My name is clare burchell. i am a textile artist, who graduated from the University College of the Creative Arts in Farnham, specialising in silk screen printing.

my designs are printed on both paper and a variety of silks and cottons. The use of colour plays an important part in my work as i enjoys overlapping contrasting and vibrant colours to create my designs. The addition of embroidery and applique can be applied to the final piece to create an unusual effect.

I recently began producing knitted textile pieces, including knitted bags, canvasses, throws and wall hangings, to broaden my variety of work. I began knitting as a hobby, but soon realised I had a passion for it. I like the qualities of wool and the variety of choices available to me. I mainly use knit, often combining two colours intertwined in the stitches. I am interested in recycling and the use of found objects and have recently begun rag rug making, using reclaimed fabrics, which I am finding very enjoyable. I plan to branch into knitting with plastic and wire in the near future.

I hope to keep exhibiting my work and am looking to broaden my scope and further my career in this exciting and diverse industry.
My work is available for sale, or exhibition purposes. Commissions are also welcome. Please contact me on
